Kia ora, I’m Jo a psychiatrist who works in the Early Intervention team at Waitemata DHB, Auckland. I have been working in the field of Early Intervention since I obtained my RANZCP fellowship in Adult Psychiatry in 2018. I believe that care should be recovery orientated and that engagement of both the young person and their whanau should be a true partnership. I think that evidenced based practices lead to better outcomes and optimal care consists of integrated biological, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual approaches tailored to each individual. I thoroughly enjoy learning with the young people in our service, being part of a dynamic team and being creative with consumer centred ideas for recovery.
Originally from Hong Kong, I moved to the United Kingdom to study medicine and work as a junior doctor. Travelling to New Zealand 10 years ago, I worked in the Bay of Plenty before settling in Auckland. I can now be found in a playground, in our garden or on a beach with my husband and two young children.
